After the Remembrance Sunday service has taken place Whitehall remains closed to traffic and many people take the opportunity to take a closer look at wreaths and messages placed at the Cenotaph. Some are personal messages left to friends or relatives others are messages from commonwealth embassies. Many people also place crosses or a star of David at the Garden of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey
